Reflection

Experience

This semester is advanced compared to the last one especially in this module I didn't have to worry about how to do the tasks since I already went through the "HOW" in the last semester I had to focus on creating new ideas and doing research to solve problems through design.

In this semester my mindset has changed to the better, I feel like I gained more knowledge and I'm wanting to explore and learn more, this module taught me how to solve problems with design thinking, and how to create amazing things based on references and research.

I learned that a designer should have a clear goal and purpose before beginning with any design, before I was always drawing and sketching things without a clear goal, which caused me to spend longer hours doing those artworks and I wasn't really enjoying them!

Now I have a glimpse on how is it going to be after I graduate, doing the projects and especially the last one, I pictured myself working at a company as a designer and I have to find out a solution for a problem that they are facing.

It was a bit hard and stressful, but the most important thing is that I learned from this great experience.

Observation

I see that this semester is about creativity and problem solving, instructions were giving from the lecturer but we had to do the task on our owns, I see it as an experience and preparation for what to come.

I noticed that in this semester I needed reading and research more than the last one, research and references were the key for creating and innovating new Ideas.

I also noticed that a designer is a problem solver, and a designer is doing art for a purpose or a goal he want to achieve, I faced a lot of bumps while doin the tasks but I was resilient and tried several methods to solve those problems.

This semester, I learned to be more open minded and to explore new art styles, I learned to read and do research about different cultures so I get inspiration from them.

I found new ways Of doing things that helped me speed up my workflow so I can meet the deadlines, However I'm not satisfied with my artworks that I've done for the projects.

Findings

Since I started studying at design school I was always looking to find a suitable design style or art style to my personality, in the past I drew some artworks but I didn't had a consistent art style.

Now, and after finishing this last semester I found that I always try to keep things as real as possible.

When designing a poster for example, I like to add textures and effects to the letters so I make it like it is printed, I found that I don't really like the perfect digital look of the letters and the overall posters these days.

So I fount myself trying so hard to give my artworks a realistic feel to them, this actually is a reflection of how I see the world, I see that people are seeking perfection when the beauty of life lies in the imperfections and differences.

I found myself looking at references from the mid century artworks (posters, films, illustrations).

This module helped me to find my personal preferable style.
