Project 1B | Collateral
Instructions
Collaterals
We are tasked to design two collateral using the key artwork developed in the task before this. The graphic output must result from in-depth exploration and must communicate both visually and textually
the desired message and mood.
After doing the key artwork and poster, now I can implement that key artwork into different areas in this case I have to use it in an object that can be gifted in an event, The object must have the look and feel of the topic.
References
When I was watching documentaries about punk culture I noticed that teenagers and rock enthusiasts always wear t shirts with some band names and symbols on it. I think a T shirt is the best way to reflect a philosophy or a thought because people always look at the clothing of an individual before making an assumption or a judgment.
Along with the T-shirt I will try to make some stickers or pin badges.

Variations for feedback
I did some variations of T shirts so I can get feedback from Mr. Vinod which will help me and guide me to finalize.

As you can see in the image below I wanted to keep the identity of my poster and key artwork by using the same color I used in the poster from the previous task.

After Feedback
Mr. Vinod advised me to work more on variation shown in Fig 2.4 because it has the same background and texture of the poster from the previous task.
Also he mentioned that I have to include the back of the T-shirt too and use different element from the key artwork and don't necessarily use the whole key artwork.
For the pin badges he suggested that I change the colors and stay with the same color scheme as my poster. Also he suggested that I make a pack for the pin badges
Here are my collaterals after feedback

Reflection
Experience
The overall experience was good and fun, I learned how to do research before starting on any kind of design. It is crucial to make research and see other artists' works. I think a designer should see the world from multiple point of views and should try different styles, be objective and know the reason behind any art styles.
Work in general turned out to be easier after doing research on the subject or topic that I am designing for, having a clear view on what I am approaching and dealing with makes the design and execution process easier, also I felt confident doing the work for this project and the one before it because I have an overall idea on punk culture and it's influence on design.
Observation
I see that this semester in general is preparing us for the real world situations, learned how important research is and reading before beginning any design project.
I noticed that design is diverse and any culture has an impact on design in general.
Findings
I found out how to make mockups because I wasn't aware on how to do it. there are many free to download mockups out there which is the most suitable way to present a design, however I found out that mockup presets don't work all the time, so I needed to tweak them a bit to get the desired look.
I also learned and found ways of applying graphical artworks on T-shirts and many surfaces without using presets, using adobe Photoshop with the displacement map tool.

Punk style
BY Monika. S.(2013)
I have read other chapters from this e-book to enlighten me on the style of punk culture even more so I can do my work comfortably and try to mimic the punk style in my collaterals.
