Instructions 

Project 2 COVID_19

 In this group project we were asked to make a short film video reflecting on how covid_19 and pandemic and lockdown affected people.

The process

 Since we are practicing social distancing I had to shoot and edit the video by myself at home, I used my phone as a camera along with a tripod I bought in the previous semester.

I used My desk lamp as a soft box for some scenes, I had to redo a lot of scenes, I was shooting and reviewing those shots each time.

 

 I used medium shots with a blurred element in each shot to add some depth of field since my phone can't achieve this result. 

 I put elements closer to the lens of my phone so it is blurred, so the viewer can focus on the main character.

I used chairs and tables to raise the tripod even higher.

I was inspired by some short films and pandemic related movies like "I am legend".

I used some news reports audio and edited it using parametric equalizer in Adobe premier pro, I made the news reports sound as they were coming from a phone using the sound dampening effects, I also made fade ins and fade outs to add better transitions between the tracks.

I added a background sad piano music to the whole sequence and I made sure all of the character actions are synced with the music.

I Also added an adjustment layer on top of the whole video to make it darker and cooler so I can reflect the loneliness and emptiness of the house I'm staying in. I was inspired by "The Matrix" movie series, I wanted to achieve that feel using lumetri color filters and adjustments.

   I also added a layer of animated noise so I can achieve the old films grainy look and get rid of the sharpness and the digital camera look, this will add a dramatic and cinematic feel to the video and make it less realistic. 

 At the end of the editing I added a 12% bottom and top crop effect to the whole sequence to make it more cinematic.

 Because I was shooting alone I added some zoom in and zoom out effects to some of the scenes from the video to make it less boring and stable, I even added a rotation motion effect to one scene to create diversity.
