Week 1
Introduction | Briefing
In today's face to face session we met Dr. Jinchi and Dr. Noorhayati, they went through the MIB and Explained all the assignments in detail so we can have a general idea about this module.
The lecturers also provided some good advise that can improve our work flow during this semester.
We were briefed with the following information.
- Module outline & expectations
- Module learning objectives
- Students’ responsibilities
- Assignments & assessment methods
- Discussion: Why is design research and
- writing important?
- Proposal briefing
Week 2
Online learning | Preparation for proposal draft
In this week I wen t through the recorded lecture and the slides, I also read all the reading materials and instructions available so I can get a better understanding of the task in hand, since this is my first time doing a research.

Tutorial session | Feedback
Feedback
- key in citations in your problem statement and introduction
- Try to specify your field of research and make it narrower.
- make your research from a design perspective.
- make your research technical not descriptive.
- keep a general yes or no question to support your research or keep it as a background.
Week 4
Lecture | Feedback
Today we had an online lecture on times portal about the methods used to make an academic research.
Feedback
- Use only surnames in citations.
- Replace paragraph 1,2,3 of the Problem statement with paragraphs 1,2,3 from the rationale.
- pick two or three websites to analyse and study.
- reformulate the research questions.
- minimize the rationale.

Feedback on final Proposal
• Research Theme: Missing from the proposal.
• Research Topic, Research Problem: Related to one another but the research problem would be more accurate if it is “Exploring colours used on websites to understand their interaction with web surfers.”
• Problem Statement: Your claim in the first sentence in the last paragraph is not substantiated. Omit it and begin with …”I decided to do this research…”
• Citations: Must be in APA style.
• Research Objectives (ROs) & Research Questions (RQs): Relevant to the research problem.
• References: Has a few research articles but bibliography must be written in APA style.
